Overgate Hospice are based in Calderdale having been in operation in 40 years only relying on donations and support from the local community.  They are a local hospice to us here in Yorkshire, and they came to us asking if we might help them as we have done for many years now.

Overgate have a tree recycling campaign coming up in January where they collect Christmas trees all around Calderdale from people’s houses in return for a donation. In previous years they have collected around 1400 trees and raised £17,000.

They made contact with us at Expect Distribution, asking if we would be willing to volunteer to help route the routes for collections of the trees. And of course, we said we would be happy to help, which they were absolutely delighted with.

Expect Distribution are super proud to be a bid partner of Bradford’s bid to be named UK City of Culture 2025.

Bradford is entering a bid to become UK City of Culture in 2025, along with other areas competing for the title.  The title UK City of Culture is awarded every four years by the Government, with the winner hosting a year-long programme of cultural activities and celebrations.

A fabulous opportunity that brings the Bradford community further together and build local pride.

Expect is set to donate £2000 to Centrepoint Bradford this Christmas.

Centrepoint provides accommodation and support with education, careers and mental health to homeless youngsters between the ages of 16 and 25. Their objective is to end youth homelessness by 2037.

During what has been a difficult year for all during the Covid 19 pandemic, charities, including Centrepoint, have suffered due to the lack of fundraising opportunities. This donation from Expect will help to ensure that the homeless youths of the Bradford district have even more support over the festive period.

“Christmas can be a difficult time for many people, especially to youngsters without the support of a family, something that many of us take for granted. Due to the pandemic we, like many other businesses, have struggled to hold our usual fundraising events, so we thought it only right that we show our support to the fantastic work that Centrepoint do with a Christmas donation from the business”

Expect Distribution are proud to announce their second award within the last month.

Expect were nominated by employee Gemma Bentley in the  ‘Employer of the Year’  at the category in the 2021 Bradford Means Business Awards that took place on 30^th September at The Bradford Hotel.

This fantastic achievement reflects how Expect has demonstrated their strong investment in all employees during such a difficult time.

The business introduced a new employee development programme, launched annual employee awards (in addition to their continued value of the month employee award)  and improved their employee benefits package.  Themed days at work and ‘Free Brekky Fridays’ are also a regular reward for the dedication of their employees.

Expect Distribution has, for the 2^nd year running, won  ‘Haulier of the Year’ at the Motor Transport Awards, held in London on 2^nd September.

Expect is the only business to have won, what is described as the most coveted award in the road transport industry, for 2 consecutive years and for 3 years in total.

The family run business is in its 32^nd year and offers bespoke logistics packages to its clients, building long term partnerships with their personal approach and dedication to customer care.

On Saturday 24th July Expect will host their first Warehouse Recruitment Open Day. This has been planned after the success of our recent HGV Driver Open Days and also requests from potential future warehouse employees.

The open day will be held at our head office at Premier Point, Staithgate Lane, Bradford , BD6 1DW and those interested are asked to pop in any time between 9am and 11.30am for an informal chat. Interviews and assessments can also be carried out on the day.

Expect Distribution are delighted to announce they have been shortlisted for all four of the entered categories at the 2021 Motor Transport Awards, to take place at Grosvenor House Hotel London on Thursday September 2nd 2021.

Considered the ‘Oscars of the transport industry’, the Motor Transport Awards are judged by senior figures within the industry, recognising and celebrating outstanding performance, seen as a benchmark for excellence across the UK.

Having entered into the Safety in Operations, Business Excellence, Partnership (with Boost Drinks) and Haulier of the Year categories, Expect were extremely happy to receive the message stating they had made the finals of all four. Making the finalists of the latter Haulier of the Year award gives Expect the opportunity to become record holders and become the first business to win the prestigious award 3 times.

On Saturday 22^nd May Expect will host their 4^th HGV Driver open day at their head office on Staithgate Lane in Bradford between 10am and 12pm, and all HGV Drivers are invited to visit the site and join the team for an informal chat and free refreshments.

Expect Distribution has continued to recruit throughout the pandemic to manage their continuous business growth.

The company has also battled the UK shortage of HGV Drivers by upping their game in relation to employee benefits. In 2020 Expect revisited their benefits and  increased employee holidays to a maximum of 33 days a year plus bank holidays, introduced a company healthcare scheme, built a gym at one of their sites for employee use, enhanced Maternity and Paternity leave and agreed to fund all driver medicals.

Expect Distribution has responded to the appeals of 2 local charities by donating £5000 to both The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice in Huddersfield and The Overgate Hospice in Halifax.
Bradford based Expect has supported both charities over the years with fundraising events, Managing Director, Neil Rushworth is currently taking on the ‘I’m a Director get me out of here’ challenge for The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice and has completed 3 bush tucker trials, with the 4th and final one to take place this week.

Neil commented “We have a great relationship with both of these charities and have supported them through fundraising for many years, the situation with this pandemic has resulted in  events being cancelled and this has come as a major loss to the hospices that both rely on fundraising to enable them to support and give the best quality of life to the adults and children that they care for.  I felt it only right that we do what we can to help in these awful and uncertain times and as a successful business that hasn’t closed during lock down it didn’t feel as though fundraising was enough, and we wanted to show our personal appreciation to both charities for the work that they do”
