Warehousing Hours

Our warehousing sites will be open during the below stated hours but operating with a reduced number of staff over the Christmas period. Warehousing Account Managers will be making personal contact to discuss our customers warehousing requirements over the festive period.

This day aimed to raise awareness for a cause that holds great significance to us.

We also hosted an exclusive competition on our social media platforms offering fans the chance to win tickets to the game and an unforgettable opportunity to deliver the match ball alongside Ernie, our iconic Expect truck. The lucky winner of this extraordinary experience was Pauli Richards, who accompanied by his son, enjoyed a day of hospitality thanks to HTAFC.

Our partnership with Huddersfield Town allowed us to provide Pauli and his son with a private stadium tour, complete with behind-the-scenes access. They had the privilege of capturing unforgettable moments pitch-side a signed match ball.

We take immense pride in being able to offer this experience and, most importantly, shedding light on Andy’s Man Club – as our chosen charity partner of the year.

Andy’s Man Club is dedicated to breaking the stigma surrounding men’s mental health through the power of conversation. Their free-to-attend peer-to-peer support groups, available both across the United Kingdom and online, are making a tangible difference in the lives of many. We stand in complete solidarity with their values and mission, and it is our privilege to contribute to their cause.

By partnering with HTAFC, we were given a great opportunity to extend the reach of Andy’s Man Club within our local community. The AMC Take Over Day wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support and collaboration from the club, and we are immensely grateful for their assistance in orchestrating this event. Expect Distribution is delighted to introduce Jon Stowe, who joins as the Head of Warehousing. With an impressive 37 years of experience in Logistics and Supply Chain, Jon brings a wealth of expertise to the company. This strategic hire marks a significant milestone for Expect Distribution, propelling the company on its growth trajectory. Jon’s role will involve developing the team, enhancing their accreditations and expanding the business’s storage capabilities, to cater to an even broader range of customers.

Recognised for providing comprehensive solutions for various logistical needs, Expect Distribution is a medium-sized enterprise firmly grounded in family values and personalised service. Their varied services encompass Palletised Distribution, where Expect holds a founding shareholding membership in Palletline and Warehousing and Contract Logistics.

Jon joins Expect Distribution from ACS&T Logistics where he served as Managing Director. Before his role at ACS&T, Jon held key positions at reputable companies such as AF Blakemore, Nisa, and Wincanton. His professional journey has afforded him valuable insights from working with major players in the food industry, including Iceland, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Asda, as well as a diverse portfolio of clients spanning various industries.

When asked about his new role, Jon says “Working with Expect Distribution was an obvious next move for me. I am not one to ever shy away from a challenge and for a business to have as many moving parts as Expect, I think I will get the challenge I’m looking for. After over 34 years at the helm of Expect Distribution, Commercial Director and former owner Neil Rushworth has announced that he will step down from his current role at the end of 2023. The company is delighted to announce the appointment of Bob Duffy as his replacement, marking an exciting new chapter for the multi-faceted distribution and warehousing business.

Expect Distribution, known for offering comprehensive solutions for virtually any logistical requirement, is a medium-sized enterprise deeply rooted in family ethics and personal service. Their diverse range of services includes Palletised Distribution, (Expect being a founder shareholding member of Palletline), Warehousing and Contract Logistics.

In January 2022, Expect Distribution underwent a significant change in ownership through a management buyout, with Andy Taylor and Matthew Kilner taking over as joint owners. In a strategic move to ensure seamless business continuation, the majority shareholding held by Robert and Neil Rushworth, who founded the company 34 years ago, had been sold with Neil continuing to retain a minority equity in Expect.

Bob Duffy, the newly appointed Commercial Director, brings with him a wealth of experience in the ambient logistics industry, having served as a sales director and provided solutions for warehousing and distribution for the past 15 years. Bob joins Expect Distribution from Menzies Distribution, where he played a pivotal role in the company’s growth and success.

When asked about his motivation to take on this new role, Bob Duffy stated, “I’ve known Neil for almost 20 years and have been very much aware of Expect, its growth over that time, and its successes. After meeting the rest of the Board and gaining a deeper understanding of the business, it certainly got me thinking about a new challenge and a new journey. The family culture, the ambitions of the team and the opportunity to be part of that leveraged me away from Menzies.”

Neil Rushworth, outgoing Commercial Director, expressed his confidence in Bob Duffy as his successor, stating, “When considering my successor, Bob was at the top of the list!”

Expect Distribution, as a Novus Sponsor, attended the Novus Pitch event at the University of Huddersfield earlier this week which saw both Year 1 and 2 Logistics Students listening to a number of businesses within the industry talking about their involvement.

After presenting information on Expect as a business, James explained what student placement opportunities Expect have to offer and the opportunities that this can bring. Carl Hepworth joined James to talk about his own experience as a Novus student and how he now works full time within our Palletline team and the development opportunities he himself can explore as a Graduate.

With four new students who started their year-long placement journey with us this month, we look forward to sharing their stories alongside those of our students who recently returned to University to complete their final year.

For the eighth year in a row, Expect Distribution has secured the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Gold Award for Health and Safety Performance, proudly showcasing our commitment to safeguarding our workforce’s well-being.

Expect Distribution has once again secured the RoSPA Gold Award in Health and Safety Performance. This marks an impressive eight consecutive years of achievement. This achievement underscores the business’ dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being.

The RoSPA Health and Safety Awards have been recognised as the largest and most significant occupational health and safety awards schemes in the UK for the 67^th year running. Drawing nearly 2,000 entries annually from close to 50 countries. The scheme celebrates organisations that consistently enhance accident and ill- health prevention through continuous improvement in their safety management systems, including aspects such as leadership and workforce involvement.

RoSPA presents 20 competitive awards per year, where businesses go head-to-head to be presented with awards including Health and Safety Performance.

Paul Maycock, Health, Safety and Training Manager, says: “It is a great honour to be recognised for the eighth consecutive year for our commitment to health and safety. The health and safety of our staff and customers is truly a key pillar of Expect. Thank you to all our staff for their commitment to maintaining these positive practises every day.”

Julia Small, RoSPA’s Achievements Director, says: “Accidents at work and work-related ill health don’t just have huge financial implications or cause major disruption – they significantly impact on an individual’s quality of life. That’s why good safety performance deserves to be recognised and rewarded.”

At Expect Distribution, we recently held our much anticipated annual Family Fun Day at the Old Brodleians RUFC in support of our valued charity partner, Andy’s Man Club.

The event proved to be an outstanding success, drawing more than 300 Expect colleagues and family members. Despite the changeable weather, all attendees came to enjoy a day of free fun, food, drink, games, and entertainment.

Colleagues and guests enjoyed a tuck shop, BBQ, bar, ice creams, child AND adult-friendly surf simulator and Sumo Suits, competitive team games, retro gaming machines, lots of live music, and a scavenger hunt.

We also held a raffle, with lots of great prizes won. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our clients for their generous contributions to the prize pool. Among the generous prizes were:

Through the collective efforts of our colleague community, we achieved a remarkable fundraising outcome, amassing an impressive £2,000 for Andys Man Club.

Yorkshire-based logistics company Expect Distribution have announced the acquisition of Pallet Plus, an established transport company, with an enviable reputation, based in the Essex area. This announcement comes as part of the ongoing growth plan for Expect as they seek to enhance their national presence.

Expect Distribution purchased the £10million turnover business, based in Colchester, to strengthen the group’s offering, expanding operations in the Southeast and solidifying its capabilities as a UK-wide logistics and warehousing company. Pallet Plus held real appeal for the Board at Expect: as a well-run and efficient distribution business, with a strong brand and modern fleet, long-term employed qualified drivers, an impressive IT infrastructure and – crucially – a culture and value-set that aligned and complemented that of Expect.

Established since 2005, Pallet Plus is a modern, family-run business providing national final mile distribution of palletised freight to and from the Essex region. Primarily a pallet network operator and a member of TPN, UPN and Palletways, Pallet Plus has a strong customer base in their immediate area which provides Expect with the opportunity to grow volume over the medium term and exploit existing synergies with current volume.

The acquisition of Pallet Plus, will see Expect Distribution’s turnover exceed £60million.

Managing Director, Matthew Kilner commented on the news,

“The fantastic reputation, dedication of the senior management team and drivers, operational capabilities and longstanding membership with three national pallet networks [The Pallet Network, UPN & Palletways], were more than enough for us to consider this acquisition. But beyond this, the cultural fit of the business was key. Pallet Plus are clearly a company punching above its weight and we are certain the two businesses will integrate seamlessly”.

Operations Director and Co-Owner Andy Taylor added

“With the purchase of Pallet Plus, we can not only significantly increase our presence in Southeast with an owned operation but also bolster the proposition, by expanding the transport side of the business and introducing, in the medium term, a new warehousing offering which has been an important growth area for us in Bradford over recent years. I’d personally like to thank the team at Pallet Plus, and we look forward to working with them, to take both businesses forward.”
