Position Overview:
We are hiring a HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team on the night shift. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods to various locations. Being a Class 1 Driver requires strong communication skills, a valid commercial driving licence, and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards while on the road.
Shift Pattern: Monday-Friday // varied times // 11.25 hours per night
Salary: £54,100 (paid monthly)
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: CO7 7JW (Colchester)
Key Responsibilities
· Safely operate a HGV Class 1 vehicle
· Deliver and collect goods according to planned routes and schedules
· Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly
· Ensure loads are secure and transported safely
· Complete delivery paperwork and digital records accurately
· Comply with EU/UK drivers’ hours, tachograph, and Working Time Directive rules
· Maintain cleanliness and roadworthiness of the vehicle
· Communicate effectively with transport planners, customers, and depot staff.
Role Requirements
· Valid HGV Class 1 licence
· Valid Driver CPC qualification
· Digital tachograph card
. No more than 6 penalty points on your driving licence
· Good knowledge of road safety and transport regulations
· Strong time management and organisational skills
· Ability to work independently and responsibly
· Good geographical knowledge or ability to use navigation systems
· Physically fit and able to handle manual tasks where required
